About Secure Bits

At Secure Bits, our Critical Infrastructure Division is focused on safeguarding and enhancing the systems that underpin Australia’s national resilience. We specialise in the design, manufacture, and integration of tailored solutions that support critical power, communications, energy, and environmental monitoring infrastructure across government, utilities, and private sector clients.

The Critical Infrastructure Division addresses the ongoing and growing need for secure, locally designed systems that meet Australian standards for safety, reliability, and performance in high-dependency environments.

From energy management systems (EMS), electrical power monitoring Systems (EPMS) and SCADA integration to secure enclosures, embedded electronics, and monitoring devices — our work directly supports the functionality and resilience of data centres, defence facilities, energy networks, and other essential services.

What We Stand For:

Resilience: We build solutions that are robust, reliable, and designed to operate in Australia’s most demanding environments.

Sovereignty: We believe that critical infrastructure should be supported by sovereign capability — and we’re committed to keeping design and production onshore.

Trust: Our clients rely on us to deliver precision-engineered systems that meet regulatory and operational requirements — and we take that responsibility seriously.

Innovation: We tackle complex infrastructure challenges with practical, forward-thinking engineering and technology solutions.

Our Commitment to Capability

Operating from our advanced Canberra-based manufacturing facility, the Critical Infrastructure Division brings together engineering, fabrication, and software teams to deliver integrated, secure, and fit-for-purpose systems. Our end-to-end capability — from concept to commissioning — ensures that our clients receive responsive service and trusted performance, backed by a team that understands the stakes.

Empowering the Next Generation

We believe in creating opportunities for hands-on learning and career growth. Our engineers and technicians work on real-world projects that contribute to energy security, communications infrastructure, and national preparedness. Whether it’s a prototype build or a production run, everyone on the team has the chance to make an impact.

Proudly Supporting Veterans and Reservists

Secure Bits is a Veteran Employment Supporter, and we actively recruit and support individuals with military experience. Within our Critical Infrastructure Division, we value the leadership, discipline, and mission focus that veterans and Defence Reservists bring — and we provide the flexibility to support their continued service.

An Inclusive and Equal Opportunity Workplace

Secure Bits is committed to building a workplace that is inclusive, respectful, and supportive of diversity. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are especially proud to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, veterans, and individuals seeking meaningful work that contributes to Australia’s critical national capabilities.

About the role

As a Junior Engineer at Secure Bits, you will contribute to the development and deployment of cutting-edge energy management systems (EMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) in critical infrastructure environments. This entry-level position offers hands-on exposure to EMS, EPMS and SCADA technologies, with a focus on improving energy efficiency in data centres and high-dependency power systems. Working closely with senior engineers and multidisciplinary project teams, you’ll play a key role in both design and implementation activities.

What are we looking for?

We’re seeking two graduate engineers — one based in Sydney and one in Melbourne — who are enthusiastic about technology, energy systems, and innovation. You’ll bring strong foundational engineering knowledge and a genuine willingness to learn, along with the ability to collaborate effectively on practical design and commissioning tasks. These roles are ideal for individuals ready to apply their academic learning in a real-world, project-driven environment.

What desirable attributes should you have?

To be considered for this role, you must have full working rights in Australia and be eligible for an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) Clearance, which requires Australian citizenship.

To thrive in this role, you should:

Demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving

Communicate clearly, especially in written technical documentation

Be comfortable working in workshop, office, and construction site settings

Show adaptability and strong organisational skills

Maintain an ongoing commitment to learning and continuous improvement

Understand and uphold safety and compliance requirements in technical settings

Bring some exposure to programming concepts or languages (beneficial).

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in designing and implementing EMS, EPMS and SCADA systems for critical infrastructure

Create electrical schematics, layouts, and supporting documentation

Support software development for SCADA/EMS aligned with engineering best practices

Conduct system testing and validation to meet performance and compliance standards

Work with suppliers on equipment procurement, repair, and maintenance

Help coordinate site-based work and small team activities as required

Prepare handover documentation, “as-builts,” and commissioning reports

Contribute to the development of internal procedures and quality control processes

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define scope and project requirements

Workplace Environment:

The role will involve a mix of home office, workshop, office, and site-based work across various Secure Bits operational locations. You will be expected to attend construction sites and established facilities for testing, commissioning, and project support. This is a fast-paced engineering environment that values initiative, collaboration, and attention to detail. You may also be required to support small team coordination and interact with external contractors as part of project delivery.

Why Join Us?

If you are seeking a workplace where your ideas and efforts truly matter, Secure Bits is the place for you. Here, you’ll find the chance to work on transformative projects that shape the future of Australia’s defence and manufacturing industries, all while being part of a supportive and forward-thinking team.

At Secure Bits, we offer:

Competitive salary and benefits: We value your expertise and reward you accordingly.

Professional growth opportunities: From training programs to mentorship, we invest in your future.

A supportive workplace culture: Join a team that values diversity, inclusion, and collaboration.

Impactful projects: Work on initiatives that contribute to Australia’s national security and technological advancement.

Flexibility and innovation: Embrace a culture where new ideas are welcomed, and flexible work arrangements are supported.
