Mains Design Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced Mains Design Engineer to join a growing team delivering essential electrical infrastructure across NSW. You’ll play a pivotal role in designing transmission and distribution mains that power some of the fastest-growing communities in Australia.

Working closely with internal teams and external partners, you’ll help translate project requirements into safe, efficient, and compliant design solutions that stand the test of time. This role suits someone who thrives on collaboration, values precision, and takes ownership from concept through to delivery.

What you’ll do

Develop detailed overhead and underground transmission/distribution mains designs and drawings.

Lead Safety in Design reviews and embed a “Safety by Design” mindset throughout each project.

Prepare cost estimates, technical reports, and design documentation to meet regulatory and client expectations.

Provide hands-on technical support during delivery to ensure designs translate seamlessly into the field.

Foster collaboration, share knowledge, and actively contribute to continuous improvement.

What you’ll bring

Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or Advanced Diploma in Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering.

5+ years of experience in transmission and distribution mains augmentation or relocation projects.

Strong understanding of NSW contestable works and relevant industry standards.

Proficiency (or working knowledge) in design software such as PLS-CADD, CYMCAP, NEARA, and CAD.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
