Are you a detail-oriented finance professional with a passion for accuracy and service? Council is seeking a skilled Finance and Payroll Officer to join our team and play a key role in delivering reliable financial and payroll services across the organisation.

In this dynamic role, you’ll:
🚀 Process payroll accurately and on time in accordance with relevant legislation and policies.
🤝 Maintain payroll records and respond to employee queries.
🎉 Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure smooth payroll operations.
🌏 Provide comprehensive administrative support and assistance across the Finance team to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of financial services throughout the organisation.
🔍 Payroll Function Overview and Highlight
The Payroll function plays a critical role in ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time, and in compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies. It involves:
Processing payroll for all staff, including leave entitlements, deductions, and allowances.
Maintaining payroll records and ensuring data integrity across systems.
Ensuring compliance with taxation, superannuation, and employment regulations.
Responding to employee queries related to pay, leave balances, and entitlements.
Collaborating with HR and Finance teams to support workforce planning and reporting.
Contributing to continuous improvement of payroll systems and processes.
What we're looking for: Essential and Desirable
Minimum of five years working experience in Queensland Local government ▪ Sound working knowledge in Synergysoft, MagiqDocs, EftSure, Defintiiv
Working knowledge of established Local Government work practices and procedures.
Working knowledge of Local Government policies and regulations. ▪ Working knowledge in finance and administration duties ▪ Demonstrated attention to detail and high level of data entry accuracy
Strong practical knowledge of Council’s financial and payroll systems (SynergySoft and Definitiv), including the ability to troubleshoot, reconcile data, and support team users.
Sound oral and written communication skills with clients, colleagues, and members of the public
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all financial and administrative tasks
Working knowledge of established Local Government work practices, procedures, policies, and regulations
