Jenner & Co Logistics & Supply Chain recruitment is retained by a Sydney based FMCG client, looking for their new National Logistics Manager (Main focus on Warehousing and Transport).

This role can potentially be for a 12 month contract or on a permanent basis also.

The main purpose of the role will be o lead and continuously improve our clients national road transport and warehousing operations, ensuring they operate safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively while meeting customer delivery expectations. This role will drive the optimisation of both company owned and contracted fleet, 3PL partnerships, and warehouse network, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations.

Key responsibilities

Manage all road transport activities nationally, covering owned fleet, contracted carriers, and 3PL logistics providers. Oversee allocators and scheduling across sites to optimise utilisation and minimise empty running. Drive standardisation of allocation processes and explore centralisation opportunities.

Maintain and continuously improve CoR and NHVAS systems for mass, maintenance, and fatigue management. Ensure telematics (VDAC, Hub Fleet) and weigh systems (Air-Tech gauges) are used effectively for compliance verification. Investigate transport incidents and implement corrective actions. Drive a positive safety culture across internal and external drivers.

Lead the management of key transport and warehouse providers. Oversee carrier performance reviews, DIFOT reporting, and corrective actions. Manage rate card governance, CPI/fuel levy updates, and annual rate negotiations.

Oversee warehousing operations nationally, including support for site commissioning. Ensure efficient pick, load, and despatch processes aligned with production and customer schedules. Implement warehouse safety and efficiency initiatives in coordination with site managers.

Own SAP transport and warehouse data integrity including rate cards, fuel levies, and freight master data. Develop and report monthly KPIs: DIFOT, cost per tonne, fleet utilisation, safety metrics, and compliance status. Use data insights to drive decision-making and identify cost-out opportunities.

Develop and manage national road and warehouse budgets. Identify and implement network optimisation, backhaul opportunities, and route efficiencies.

Key Skills required:-

• Minimum 10 years’ experience leading national road transport operations (including owned fleet and 3PL carriers).

• Strong understanding of NHVAS, CoR, and heavy-vehicle regulatory frameworks.

• Demonstrated success managing multi-site logistics networks and warehouse interfaces.

• Experience with SAP Transport / Warehouse Management, telematics, and freight master data.

• Advanced commercial skills – contract negotiation, cost modelling, and carrier performance management.

• Leadership capability to build and coach distributed teams.

• Strong analytical, planning, and communication skills.

• Proven ability to deliver measurable cost and service improvements.

Desirable:

• Experience in FMCG environments.

• Familiarity with PBS vehicles, bulk liquids, and dry bulk transport operations.

• Exposure to project-based change programs (e.g., cost-out, centralisation, or digital enablement).
