College of Medicine and Public Health

About the Role

The Scientific Manager will play a key leadership role in overseeing the Northern Territory Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) Program, including the management of service agreements for i-STAT and WBC DIFF. Working under broad supervision, the Scientific Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program, providing strategic and operational oversight, and leading both scientific and administrative staff.

This position is based within the Flinders University International Centre for Point-of-Care Testing-a globally recognised leader in POCT research and education. The Centre is renowned for its contributions to improving healthcare access and outcomes, particularly in Indigenous communities and rural and remote regions, through its work in chronic, acute, and infectious disease testing.

About You

The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, project management, and technical expertise in Point-of-Care Testing, along with a commitment to culturally safe practices and the ability to work effectively in diverse and remote settings.

  • Willingness and ability to travel interstate and to remote locations.
  • In-depth knowledge of pathology POCT and experience with quality assurance programs.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Understanding and application of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural safety principles.
