About the role

As a Child Protection Lawyer at Howden Saggers Lawyers', you will play a crucial role in advocating for the rights and wellbeing of children and families. Joining our team in Beenleigh, you will provide expert legal counsel and representation in child protection matters, ensuring the best interests of our clients are safeguarded. This full-time position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within our collaborative and supportive work environment.

What you'll be doing

Representing clients, including parents, guardians, and children, in child protection proceedings and hearings

Advising clients on their legal rights and obligations, and guiding them through the child protection system

Preparing and presenting compelling legal arguments and evidence to protect the interests of our clients

Collaborating with social workers, psychologists, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to child protection cases

Staying up-to-date with changes in child protection legislation and regulations, and incorporating them into your practice

Contributing to the development of legal strategies and best practices within the family law team

What we're looking for

QLD Practicing certificate (or ability to obtain such in a short space of time)

QLD drivers licence and access to a vehicle for regional Court attendances

While not mandatory, experience in child protection or family law, with a strong understanding of the relevant legislation and legal processes would be desirable

Excellent communication and advocacy skills, with the ability to effectively represent clients in court and negotiation settings

A compassionate and empathetic approach, with a genuine commitment to protecting the rights and wellbeing of children and families

Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with the capacity to navigate complex legal and emotional situations

Ability to work collaboratively within a team and maintain positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and other professionals.

While not mandatory, a person with a willingness to undertake a small workload in crime, domestic violence, and mental health would also be ideal.
