About the role

Due recent departure of one of the Directors has opened an opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join our team. Working closely with the Director you will enjoy the opportunity to impress and advance.

This is a full-time opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join the professional practice team at Hellyer Wood Pty Ltd, located in Mornington, Victoria. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for providing high-quality tax and accounting services to a diverse portfolio of clients, with a focus on supporting the practice's growth and delivering exceptional client service.

What you'll be doing

Prepare and review complex tax returns, financial statements, and other accounting documentation for individual and business clients

Advise clients on tax planning strategies and ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations

Conduct research and provide recommendations on tax-efficient structures and solutions

Liaise with clients, tax authorities, and other stakeholders to resolve queries and issues

Contribute to the development and implementation of new processes and procedures to improve the practice's efficiency and effectiveness

Mentor and train junior members of the accounting team

Participate in business development activities to identify new growth opportunities

What we're looking for

Degree in Accounting or a related field, with a minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience in a public accounting practice

Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA)

Extensive knowledge of tax legislation, accounting standards, and compliance requirements

Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse client portfolio and deliver high-quality services

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and team members

Commitment to ongoing professional development and a desire to stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices

Experience with Xero, Xero Tax, Karbon & Ignition softwares will be an advantage (but not essential)
