About the Role

Good Cartel is hiring an experienced Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team in Broome.

We’re looking for a proven kitchen leader — firm but fair, confident under pressure, and capable of running a shift while inspiring a small team.

This position suits either a Sous Chef or an experienced Chef de Partie who thrives in a busy, high-performance environment.

You’ll lead shifts with 2–5 team members (depending on the day and season), ensuring smooth service, quality, and consistency across all menus — and work alongside our in-house Pastry Chef and Gelato Maker as part of a creative, collaborative kitchen team.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead and support team during service across breakfast, lunch, or dinner

* Oversee mise en place, cooking, and expediting orders

* Maintain kitchen cleanliness, complete shift handover, and pack down at end of service

* Communicate prep needs and issues to senior management

* Collaborate with our Pastry and Gelato departments on specials and menu improvements

* Uphold consistency and presentation standards across all dishes

What We’re Looking For

* Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Chef de Partie (minimum 2 years)

* Strong leadership and communication skills

* Firm but fair attitude with the ability to train and mentor junior staff

* Passion for quality, organisation, and calmness under pressure

* Must currently live in Australia

* Must be ready to relocate to Broome and start ASAP

Key Details

* Full-time position (38 hours per week)

* Salary: $65,000 – $75,000 per annum (based on skill set & experience)

* Contract: Ongoing, with 1-month probation

* Start Date: Immediate

* Sponsorship: Available after probation in Cook or Chef category under the Kimberley DAMA Labour Agreement. Candidates must be suitably qualified for consideration.
