Senior Paediatric Speech Pathologist (Permanent, Part-Time)

Tasmanian Health Service, South

Are you a Speech Pathologist who enjoys working with children and families, and believes that a good team, strong support, and the occasional shared laugh can make all the difference? We’re looking for someone just like you to join our Tasmanian Community Paediatric Service (TCPS).

About the Role
The Tasmanian Community Paediatric Service (TCPS) Speech Pathologist delivers specialist care to children and adolescents with complex developmental, behavioural, and psychosocial needs, grounded in trauma-informed, relational, and community-embedded practice.

Working within the TCPS Multidisciplinary Team, this role involves contributing to comprehensive assessment, management, and advocacy for children, including those impacted by social disadvantage, disability, and trauma.

Responsibilities include contributing to neurodevelopmental assessments, managing common developmental and behavioural presentations, and promoting child wellbeing through public health advocacy, education, and systems-level engagement. The role may also involve supervision of Speech Pathology staff and students, and participation in service development to advance TCPS as a centre of excellence in community paediatrics.

We know that stepping into a new role can feel a bit like the first day of school — so we’ll make sure you’re well supported with training, supervision, and a team that’s always happy to help (and share snacks).

What We Offer

  • A meaningful role supporting children and families in the community
  • A team that values collaboration, kindness, and a good sense of humour
  • Structured support to help you settle in and succeed, including supervision and mentoring
  • Opportunities to contribute to service development and multidisciplinary care
  • Professional development support

What We’re Looking For

  • A qualified Speech Pathologist with a passion for working with children and families
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice and team collaboration
  • A willingness to learn and grow — we don’t expect you to know everything, and we’ll help you get there
  • Alignment with our values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (CARE)
  • Someone who can laugh at a good pun (or at least tolerate them)

This role is based in Southern Tasmania, with work across community settings. You’ll be joining a service that’s committed to making a difference — and to making sure you feel safe, supported, and valued while doing it.
