The Opportunity

As our National Business Development Manager, you'll be the face and voice of Indepet to both current and prospective members. Working closely with the CEO, you'll drive member acquisition, engagement, and retention by championing the groups value proposition.

This role isn't just about growth — it's about impact. You'll help members unlock the full benefits of being part of a connected, collaborative, and competitive group.

Key Responsibilities

Member Recruitment & Onboarding

Build a pipeline of prospective members and tell the Indepet story with passion

Guide new members through onboarding, from agreements to first product orders

Ensure smooth handover into group operations and internal systems

Member Engagement & Growth

Build strong, lasting relationships with existing members

Showcase and coach members on the benefits of the Indepet value proposition

Regularly visit members and be their go-to partner for problems and opportunities

Program Participation & Operational Excellence

Drive engagement and participation of groups product strategy and growth initiatives.

Influence utilisation of group support services (Marketing, Knowledge Hubs and Training)

Identify store specific growth opportunities and provide coaching & support

Private Label Growth

Expand distribution and sales of private label brands through strategic targeting

Influence in-store activations and brand and sales building initiatives

Monitor trends and recommend growth opportunities

Who You Are (What you bring)

You're a natural relationship builder with a commercial edge and a strategic mindset. You know how to bring people on the journey — whether it's onboarding new partners, coaching for performance, or influencing engagement in group initiatives.

You're equally comfortable rolling up your sleeves in the field but above all, you genuinely care about helping independent businesses succeed.

You'll likely bring:

Proven experience in business development, category management, retail operations or member-based organisations

A minimum of 3-5 years of business development experience is required for this position

Strong B2B relationship skills – you know how to build trust and influence action

A background in FMCG, retail, pet, buying groups, or franchising (advantageous but not essential)

A growth mindset – curious, solutions-focused, and always seeking better ways

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across all levels

Willingness to travel across Australia and New Zealand to support members face-to-face

Ability to travel 25-50% of the time across Australia and New Zealand to support members face-to-face

Candidates must hold a valid work visa or appropriate work rights for Australia.
