About our team
The Office Services team is responsible for the provision of a suite of services including venues, building security, travel management, fleet, telephony and mobile technology systems, records management, reception, receipt and despatch and BCE insurance provision.

Summary

As a Senior Insurance Claims Officer, you will play a pivotal role in managing and resolving insurance claims across Brisbane Catholic Education's network. You'll be responsible for assessing, processing, and finalising claims, ensuring compliance with policies, regulations, and industry standards.

This position is central to supporting schools and office staff, acting as the main point of contact for insurance matters, and providing expert advice and operational insights. Your work will directly contribute to the effectiveness of BCE's insurance strategies and the continuous improvement of claims processes.

About the opportunity

In this position you will:

  • Assess, process, and resolve insurance claims in line with BCE policies and industry standards, acting as the main liaison for all stakeholders
  • Provide operational insights and feedback from daily claims management to support the development and review of insurance strategies, policies, and procedures
  • Offer general advice on technical, operational, and administrative legislation, policies, and procedures, and prepare business documents and reports related to insurance claims and deductible
  • Contributing to problem-solving initiatives, and handling complex issues within delegated authority where precedents and procedures are not clearly defined
  • Manage settlement payments within authorised limits, reconcile insurance payments with Finance, and contribute to the development of operational and administrative processes and system reporting requirements
  • Research and analyse practices to support operational decision-making, develop and improve procedures, and resolve complex issues within delegated authority
  • Presenting operational information and services to engage, influence and guide clients and peers

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

  • Providing general advice
  • Creating accurate documentation with a high attention to detail
  • Stakeholder engagement ensuring information flow in a timely and inclusive manner
  • Providing information to a range of internal and external stakeholders in response to direct queries
  • Investigating issues and concerns and providing advice and information in line with policy and procedures
  • Certificate IV in General Insurance or equivalent (preferred, but not essential)
  • Prior experience in insurance claims handling (preferred, but not essential)

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
  • Ability to obtain a National Criminal History check prior to commencement
