Permanent full-time

This position has been created to respond to evolving customer needs and strengthen existing HR support. We have invested significantly in shaping our HR service offering and are entering an exciting phase of evolution. This role will be central to how we continue to deliver and refine our services across the organisation.

As a Human Resources Support Officer in our People and Culture Division, you will join a nurturing, team-oriented environment where your contribution matters. The role suits someone who is eager to build a career in HR, enjoys working with systems, and thrives in an administrative or coordination environment. You will receive tailored training and hands on experience to support your development.

This is a permanent role that underpins the HR function. Over time, you will have the opportunity to build your skills, either deepening your expertise in the role or exploring opportunities to grow within the team. We are seeking someone who brings enthusiasm, curiosity and a willingness to learn. If you are organised, detail focused, enjoy working with people and systems, and want to be part of a team that invests in development and embraces new ways of working, this could be the perfect next step for you.

About the Team

The Human Resources team at the City of Onkaparinga plays a vital role in supporting our people, employees and volunteers, across the organisation.

We operate within a Business Partnering framework, providing strategic and operational services across the entire employee and volunteer lifecycle. Our People Partnering function works closely with leaders to align people strategies with organisational goals, ensuring a proactive and tailored approach to workforce needs. Similarly, our Volunteer Involvement function supports leaders and volunteers through the volunteer lifecycle, ensuring engagement and alignment with organisational priorities.

Our team also includes a dedicated Talent Acquisition function, led by a Talent Acquisition Partner and Recruitment Advisor, who support talent sourcing initiatives. Complementing these functions is our administration and coordination stream, the engine room of our team, delivered by two Human Resources Support Officers.

We pride ourselves on being a collaborative, customer focused team that values open communication, mutual support and a sense of fun. Together, we are committed to fostering a positive workplace culture and empowering our people to thrive.

About the Position

The Human Resources Support Officer provides a wide range of administration and coordination support to the HR team. The role focuses on maintaining data integrity across the employee and volunteer lifecycle, assisting with onboarding and offboarding, supporting recruitment processes, maintaining employee data in the OneCouncil system, and directing leaders and employees to the right information.

With a strong emphasis on customer service, this position plays a pivotal role in ensuring smooth HR operations and enabling the broader team to deliver impactful services. Over time, you will build deep knowledge of HR systems, policies and processes, becoming a trusted resource within the team.

About You

Working as part of a collaborative HR team in a fast paced, results driven and fun environment, your energy, positivity and passion for people will enable you to support our leaders and employees throughout the entire employee lifecycle.

Previous experience in HR is not essential. We will provide comprehensive training and support to the right individual. What matters most is that you are eager to learn, willing to take on a new challenge and motivated to develop your skills in a supportive team environment.

You will have a natural ability to communicate with influence and build rapport with our customers. You will possess highly developed interpersonal and customer service skills to collaborate effectively.

Key Selection Criteria:

  1. Administration and Coordination
Proven ability to deliver high-quality administrative support, including record management and correspondence preparation.
