ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Child and Family Counsellor to join our team in Wodonga and contribute to Gateway Health’s commitment to provide child and family counselling services in our community, working with primary school age children and their families.
Working as part of a dynamic and passionate team, the Child and Family Counsellor will provide assessment and therapeutic interventions using age-appropriate techniques to a designated case load, as well as undertake risk assessments and referrals. This role also provides support, education and guidance to parents or guardians, and skills education in schools.
ABOUT YOU
You’re a compassionate, skilled counsellor who is passionate about supporting children and their families to thrive. You understand the challenges that can impact a child's emotional and behavioural development, and you bring warmth, creativity, and patience to your work.
You are experienced in assessing children’s needs and areas of risk, identifying goals and developing integrated collaborative treatment plans. You know how to create a safe, trusting space where children can express themselves and families feel heard and supported.
To be successful in the role you will have
- Qualifications in social work, welfare, counselling or mental health with at least 2 years’ experience working with children and families.
- Knowledge and experience of utilising therapeutic modalities
- Experience in the use of psychological assessment through administration and objective interpretation of standardised tests
- High level of interpersonal, communication, problem-solving and negotiation skills

Community Health Centre Stand Alone Services Social and Community Service Employees Multi Enterprise Agreement 2022
Classification – SACS Employee Level 4 - $44.58 - $47.97 + Superannuation
