The Opportunity

We are currently seeking a farm manager to direct and oversee operations at our iconic Manbulloo Farm, near Katherine NT.

Key responsibilties include:

Assist the Managing Director/Operations Manager to prepare an annual business plan and budget for the farm.

Develop, implement and monitor weekly and seasonal farm, tree and crop management plans in line with sustainable and environmentally responsible farming practices.

Manage the daily operations of all farm activities, within the financial parameters approved by management and report as required on the status of operations.

Plan, organise and manage farm staff, from hiring through to training and daily supervision.

Maintain accurate records of horticultural operations and implement efficient water management practices.

Maintain areas and monitor inventory of chemicals, fertilisers, fuel and machinery including usage.

Maintain accurate records of the vehicle and machinery maintenance plan and activies, including delegating their safe operation.

Maintain farm buildings, structures and storage areas and control weeds and vermin

Arrange and manage external contractors and consultants needed to achieve planned outcomes.

Supervise entry of visitors to the farm

Other tasks as requested by the Managing Director/Operations Manager

There is a team to support you with daily activities, so while there is certainly a hands-on aspect to the role, this is a management role that stretches from involvement in seasonal strategy planning through to daily supervising and mentoring team members.

You

You will have had experience managing a farm before, but it doesn't need to have been a mango farm so long as you're wiling to learn from the best. You will bring a minimum of 3+ years of farm management experience along with.

Solid understanding of financial management in agriculture, including cost control, budgeting, and financial reporting.

Understanding of horticulture cultivation, including growth cycles, harvesting techniques, and post-harvest handling.

Ability to operate machinery and equipment competently and safely, and be capable of completing some basic equipment repairs and maintenance.

An organised, professional mindset that plans, communicates, and delegates so that all team members understand your goals and their roles in achieving them.

Confidence using computer software including Microsoft Excel, word and outlook, along with the ability to learn and work with other industry-specific apps.

Class C drivers license (minimum)

Farm chemical user training certificate

You will also bring a desire to be responsible for the farm's operations, productivity and safety, along with the wellbeing and personal growth of the team. We all succeed together.
