Position Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic Observing Operations Hub Manager. You will join a leadership team of eight hub managers who are from diverse backgrounds, based around Australia that ensures critical weather observing equipment is maintained and operational, to deliver high quality data for forecasting and warnings for the Australian public.

You enjoy managing a team of talented hands-on field maintenance staff, weather observers and operational logistics support teams. You enjoy fostering people and technical leaders within your team. You promote a culture of safety first and are comfortable driving organisational change and continuous improvement in processes to support national consistency and operational excellence.
You are people focused, a strong communicator and organised with a focus on tracking progress against budgets, annual works program, KPIs and workforce management and planning. You are comfortable working within a technical environment and with engineered systems and networks and you enjoy working autonomously but will collaborate closely across the organisation to improve service.
Who are we?
The Observing Operations Hubs are the Bureau of Meteorology's Technical Operations centres comprising of 8 Hubs, one in each capital city and Cairns.
Staff based at the Observing Operations Hub travel far and wide and into remote areas, utilising 4WD's, planes, boats, and helicopters to maintain service delivery within the various instrumentation networks. This includes:
- Rain Radars
- Automatic Weather Stations (AWS)
- Upper-Air monitoring systems (sounding balloons)
- Sea Level Monitoring Stations
- Wave and Wave height buoys
- Satellite ground reception and space weather instruments
- Flood warning/rainfall monitoring systems
- Cooperative observers, volunteer rainfall stations
- Communications, telemetry and instrumentation systems
