About Energy Consumers Australia (ECA)
ECA is the independent, national voice for residential and small business energy consumers. We're a small independent organisation with a big impact.
We amplify consumer perspectives to influence decision-makers and ensure the energy transition delivers fair, affordable and reliable outcomes for everyone.
Our three promises guide everything we do: bold ideas, expert analysis and faultless execution.
About the role
As Manager, Consumer Advocacy, you will lead and contribute to key ECA projects and policy submissions, working closely with colleagues across the Advocacy & Policy team and the broader ECA, research partners, market bodies and consumer advocates.
Key responsibilities include:
Drive strategic advocacy by researching emerging issues, developing policy positions and contributing bold ideas that advance ECA's seven consumer-centred targets (equity, value, agency, ownership, control, justice, representation).
Deliver projects – manage or contribute to key advocacy projects on time, on budget and with measurable impact.
Engage stakeholders – build relationships with governments, market bodies, industry and community organisations to strengthen consumer outcomes.
Represent ECA in consultations, meetings and events, clearly communicating consumer interests and ECA's positions.
Collaborate internally to grow a high-performance culture that values innovation and knowledge sharing.
About you
We're looking for a strategic thinker with a strong sense of purpose. If you're passionate about energy justice, the intersection of energy, health and housing issues, public policy, and driving the energy transition, this is your chance to make a real impact.
You bring intellectual rigour and communication finesse, with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling insights for a wide range of audiences.
You thrive in dynamic environments, juggling multiple priorities with confidence and clarity.
Collaboration is your strength. You know how to build trusted relationships, foster alignment, and negotiate practical solutions that move things forward.
You bring:
Tertiary qualifications in Public Policy, Social Sciences, Sustainable Built Environment, Law, Economics, Engineering, or related field.
Experience in policy, advocacy or regulation (energy sector knowledge is a plus, but a commitment to consumer advocacy is essential).
Project management and stakeholder engagement experience desirable.
Applicants must have the right to work in Australia, and a criminal history check will be conducted.

🌴 5 additional ECA leave days + 4 weeks annual leave
