Graphic Designer – Print Magazines

Publications for Life is the publisher of four print magazines: Peninsula Living, Peninsula Living Pittwater, North Shore Living and Club Living. In addition, it has two digital assets: Northside Living News and Think Local.

We are looking for a proficient and self-motivated graphic designer to assist our team with a range of design work, from concept through to print. You will join our senior designer and report directly to the Editor in Chief. You will work across a broad range of design work including magazine advertising, editorial layout, corporate and promotional materials and digital adverts. This is a full-time position based in Brookvale.

Primary responsibilities and skills

A high level of design skills

An understanding of the key elements that make an effective advert

Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite is essential

Creating web banners and promos for social media platforms

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to deliver high quality design

Ability to work fast under tight deadlines and work well with a team-focussed attitude

Exceptional verbal, telephone and written communication skills are essential

Education and Experience

Two years’ experience preferred, but if you have a passion for design and keen to learn, please also apply

Tertiary qualifications in Graphic Design or multimedia are essential

A portfolio that demonstrates print publication expertise – typographic skills and diversity in creativity and design style

Experience in editorial layout or similar is an advantage

This role centres on the production of four monthly print magazines. The Graphic Design team create adverts from client briefs and lay out editorial/photos in the magazines. The successful candidate will have strong experience in a similar production environment. They will be comfortable working to tight deadlines, working autonomously, liaising with clients and maintaining the administration within their area.

Publications for Life prides itself on our local standing across the Northern Beaches & North Shore. You will join a team of 10 based in Brookvale, on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and be provided with training and car parking.
