A federal government agency is seeking two experienced HR professionals to support policy development and workplace relations initiatives. These APS6 level roles offer the opportunity to contribute to meaningful reform in a collaborative and inclusive environment.
The Branch will oversee the implementation of the Enterprise Agreement (EA), create and revise modern people policies which match the EA and NDIA's vision, values, and strategic goals. The Branch supports the agency with expert people policy development, education, productive engagement and relationships.
Your new role
The position is required to provide detailed technical, professional, policy, operational support and advice in relation to complex problems. Where required, the role will coordinate and assist in the strategic planning, program and project management and policy development that support the agency's objective.
The position has reasonable autonomy and accountability to exercise both initiative and judgment to interpret legislation and policy, in the application of practices and procedures to achieve outcomes within the functions.
There will be a considerable level of public contact in relation to complex, difficult or sensitive issues. It is required to liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders in a representational role on behalf of the branch/division/NDIA.
As an APS6 People Policy and Workplace Relations Officer, you will:
- Research, interpret and apply conditions under enterprise agreements, legislation, and internal policies.
- Develop, review and implement employment-related policies and procedures.
- Provide clear and accurate advice to build manager capability and organisational understanding of employee relations and performance practices.
- Support, coordinate and contribute to effective HR projects and business process improvements.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote the department as an employer of choice.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
- Strong HR expertise, particularly in workplace conditions in an APS context.
- Experience interpreting and applying HR legislation including the Public Service Act and Enterprise Agreements.
- Proven ability to draft and implement HR policies and communications under limited direction.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, including working with subject matter experts to refine content.
- Demonstrated ability to draft communications for different audiences, including Intranet and particular stakeholder groups.
- Ability to provide sound advice on workplace conditions and policy queries.
- Awareness of accessibility expectations and inclusive practices.
Australian citizenship and ability to obtain a Baseline security clearance are essential requirements.
