Our client is a well-regarded government organisation committed to delivering engaging services and fostering community involvement across New South Wales. They are currently seeking a dedicated and motivated Media and Communications Officer to join their dynamic team.

This is a hybrid role based in the Sydney CBD, with the expectation that the successful candidate will travel to various office locations, including the Blue Mountains and Mount Annan. A valid driver’s licence is essential.

This contract position is available for an immediate start and will run through to May 2026.

The Job
Reporting into the Communications Manager, in this exciting Communications and Media contract, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Deliver clear, engaging communications in collaboration with Content and Marketing teams.
• Create media stories that highlight science, horticulture, education, and tourism initiatives.
• Build media relationships and secure positive coverage to meet PR targets.
• Produce accurate, accessible content for technical and general audiences.
• Coordinate campaigns and content to support public engagement and business goals.
• Advise on communication strategies and manage sensitive media issues.

You
To be successful for this Media and Communications contract, you must have experience with the following:

• Proven experience in media relations and issues management, and/or in developing and commissioning compelling stories and multimedia content for traditional and digital platforms.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and perform well in high-pressure environments.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex or technical information into clear, engaging content.
• A current Australian driver’s licence.
• A genuine interest in nature, science communication, or environmental education.
