Serviceman – Career Pathway to Branch Manager

Want a role where you start on the tools, learn the gear inside out, and build towards running a branch? Active Hire South is looking for a Serviceman to join the team, with a clear pathway to Branch Manager.

This role begins in the service bay, working hands-on with our hire equipment. You’ll learn how each machine works, how to service and prepare gear, and how the hire process runs. After 3–6 months, once you know the ropes, you’ll start stepping up to cover the Branch Manager when they’re out meeting clients or on leave. In time, this role will grow into Branch Manager.

What you’ll be doing

Servicing, cleaning, and preparing equipment for hire

Checking gear in and out, completing paperwork and condition reports

Assisting customers in the yard, including loading and unloading with forklift

Supporting the hire counter as you build knowledge

Covering Branch Manager duties after your initial training period

What you’ll bring

Must-haves:

Mechanical aptitude and interest in machinery or small engines

Current C class driver’s licence

Reliable, motivated, and customer-focused attitude

Nice-to-haves:

Forklift licence (or willingness to get one quickly)

Experience in hire, trade, or a service industry
