Carestays is a growing NDIS-registered organisation providing Supported Independent Living (SIL), Short-Term Accommodation (STA), and respite services across Victoria.
We deliver high-quality, participant-centred care that promotes independence, dignity, and community inclusion.
As we expand into new regions – including our upcoming Mentone site – we’re seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our executive team and lead the setup and day-to-day delivery of outstanding participant services.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to take the lead in establishing and running our new Mentone site, ensuring it launches smoothly, meets all NDIS compliance standards, and is fully operational before being handed over to a Site Coordinator.
The role will primarily be based in Mentone, with 1–2 days per week at our Thornbury head office.
Working closely with the broader leadership team, you’ll oversee operations across multiple sites, mentor staff, and drive service excellence and compliance.
While this position offers significant autonomy and executive responsibility, final decision-making authority on organizational and operational matters rests with senior management.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the establishment of the Mentone site – from fit-out and staff readiness to participant onboarding.
Oversee and support Site Coordinators, Shift Leads, and administrative staff across multiple Carestays locations.
Manage rosters, recruitment, training, and performance in line with NDIS and Fair Work requirements.
Monitor financial performance and ensure budgets are met efficiently and responsibly.
Conduct site audits, review incidents, and lead WHS and risk management activities.
Maintain compliance with all NDIS Practice Standards and Carestays policies.
Report on operational performance, highlighting achievements and areas for improvement.
Drive continuous improvement and staff engagement initiatives across all sites.
Promote Carestays’ values of Empathy, Integrity, Accountability, Quality, and Respect.
Who You Are
We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on leader who thrives in a people-centered environment and has a deep understanding of NDIS operations.
Only applicants with a strong background in NDIS and experience as an Operations Manager or similar senior leadership role will be considered.
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven leadership experience in disability, aged care, or community services.
Strong knowledge of NDIS Practice Standards and operational compliance.
Demonstrated ability to set up and manage new sites or programs.
Financial acumen and ability to manage budgets and staff ratios.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative approach.
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, First Aid, and Working with Children Check.
Desirable
Diploma or higher qualification in Community Services, Disability, or Management.
Experience with NDIS software such as Deputy, Entire OnHire, or CareMaster.
