We are driving ambitious goals in environmental sustainability, biodiversity, and expanding our urban tree canopy. With strong recent investment from the State Government fuelling growth and development, this is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of a City that is committed to quality, liveability, and a sustainable future.

We are passionate about our people and excited to welcome a talented leader who will inspire and deliver meaningful change.

The Role

This is an exceptional opportunity for an energetic, visionary leader to guide the City’s Parks and Environment portfolio. Reporting directly to the Director Infrastructure and Assets, you will set the direction for high-performing teams in Parks and Gardens, Waste Management, and Environmental Sustainability.

Your influence will extend beyond day-to-day operations – you will drive innovation, service excellence, and environmental leadership, ensuring that the City continues to meet the evolving expectations of our community while delivering on our ambitious strategic goals.

As a senior leader, you will work closely with the City’s Executive to shape strategy, improve services, and lead the transformation needed to prepare the City for the future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and empower the Environment Manager and Parks and Gardens Manager to deliver operational excellence.
  • Drive delivery of service plans across Parks and Gardens, Waste Management, and Environmental Sustainability.
  • Build the capability and capacity of teams and individuals to foster a high-performance culture.
  • Ensure effective systems and processes are in place to meet current and future demands.
  • Build strong and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide expert technical and strategic advice on all Parks and Environment matters.
  • Champion innovation in sustainability, environmental management, and contemporary landscaping practices.

About You

You will bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in environmental science, engineering, or management.
  • A proven track record as a transformational leader who inspires teams and delivers results.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A passion for innovation, sustainability, and delivering services that make a lasting difference to the community.

What we Offer

This is an outstanding opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of one of Perth’s most recognisable local governments.

At the City of Bayswater, you’ll work with passionate professionals and in an environment that values our employees and our community. We offer a negotiated remuneration package up to $245,000 per annum on a five-year performance-based contract, plus a range of benefits including:

  • Free aquatic and gym membership
  • Tra ining and professional development opportunities
  • Health and wellbeing initiatives
  • Free onsite parking
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Corporate health insurance discounts
  • A truly inclusive and diverse workplace that values and supports its people
