About the Role:

The position will be reporting to our Client Manager's and this development accounting role will be focused on productive learning whilst supporting the day-to-day operation of the business. This role will involve the following duties but not limited to:

Assisting in completing year-end Financial Accounts and Income tax returns for both individuals and companies

Assisting the Accountants and Directors with Client Management Reporting

Preparing trial balance, and reviewing all asset, liability, expense and income general ledger accounts

Posting monthly journals for payroll cost, employee superannuation and PAYG withholding tax, salary sacrifice, commissions and employee termination payment

Structuring accounting entries, compliance-based auditing, producing accounting information and record-keeping

Provided services to clients such as preparing Business Activity Statements (BAS), GST returns and PAYG Reports

Implementation and administration of accounting information systems of Xero.

Additional responsibilities:

Work closely with the Client Managers, Accountants and Directors to complete assignments accurately, according to the firm’s operational manual and standards.

Ensure work is completed within the specified time frame and alert the Manager where a job is at risk of falling behind schedule prior to the deadline.

Work towards finding solutions for what you don’t know and ask the questions necessary to complete work on time.

Work as a team with all team members of the firm and value the individual contributions and abilities of your colleagues.

About the opportunity and skills:

You will be required to have the following skills in order to perform in this role:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred, and consideration for those that are nearly completed

Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or Assistant Accountant.

Proficiency in using accounting software (preferably XERO) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Willingness to learn and progress through our development program
