About the role
Council is seeking an enthusiastic Undergraduate Accountant who is ready to put their knowledge into practice and build a strong foundation for a future career in financial services.
Reporting to the Financial Accountant, your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Process invoices and credit notes accurately and on time
- Support timely payments to creditors and month-end reconciliations
- Collaborate with the Procurement Team to maintain seamless financial workflows
- Help maintain Council’s Name and Address Register
- Provide support with accounts receivable processes
- Support bank reconciliations (credit cards, cash, rates, direct deposits)
- Assist in managing financial assets (acquisitions, disposals, depreciation)
- Contribute to GST, FBT, and other tax-related processes
- Help with journal preparation, general ledger reconciliations, and month-end reporting
- Assist with budgeting and review activities
Qualifications, skills & experience
- Currently enrolled in the penultimate or final year of an undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accurate data entry and record-keeping
- Good customer service and communication skills
- Effective time management and the ability to prioritise tasks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
* Salary for this position is as per the Local Government (State) Award 2023.
* Candidates must be enrolled in and studying the qualification for the duration of the employment term in order to be eligible
