Victoria Police is offering a rare opportunity for five (5) experienced Injury Management and Rehabilitation professionals to join our respected team of injury management consultants. This vital role is responsible for supporting injured employees, line managers and external stakeholders to deliver meaningful and sustainable return to work outcomes for our injured employees.

About the role:
Reporting to Injury Management Team Leaders you will be part of our Health, Safety & Wellbeing Division. You will drive workers' compensation claims, manage injury reporting processes, and lead compliance with Victorian workers' compensation legislation. If you are proactive, organised and would thrive on making a difference in the lives of our injured employees whilst assisting to improve organisational return to work practice we would like to hear from you.
This position is located at the Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street Docklands.
Your duties will include:
- Strategically manage workers' compensation claims from lodgement through to closure.
- Provide ongoing advice and coaching to line managers on management of injuries and aspects of claims management to ensure Victoria Police meets return to work obligations in accordance with the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013.
- Facilitate pro-active and early intervention and prevention strategies for both physical and psychological injuries as well as contributing to the upskilling of line managers to help influence/enhance injury prevention activities and stay at/return to work programs.
- Managing and monitoring the progress of ill/injured workers' recovery and capacity to return to work and facilitate return to work planning actions with all stakeholders.
- Take a proactive approach in contacting treating health practitioners to influence, negotiate and facilitate safe and sustainable return to work.
- Collaborate with our Agent and internal teams to achieve stay at and return to work outcomes.
- Participate in file reviews, medical case conferences and case reviews undertaken by the scheme regulator.
- Maintain accurate and timely records, cases notes and documentation on our in-house system.
As the successful applicant, you will meet the following:
Essential Requirements
- At least 1-2 years demonstrated experience in worker's compensation, personal injury management or a similar role - a background workplace-based rehabilitation and return to work program management is highly regarded.
- Strong working knowledge of Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013.
- Experience in return-to-work planning and driving case management strategy for complex psychological injuries in particular.
- Solid time management and organisational abilities with a proactive mindset
- A commitment to continuous learning, inclusion and safe work practices.
- Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills and ability to build relationships and engage with a wide range & multiple stakeholders; in the context of complex cases and the return-to-work planning process.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Desirable
- Tertiary qualifications in Allied Health, Occupational Rehabilitation, or a related field.
- Experience working within emergency services or government sectors.
- RTW Coordinator accreditation.
