About the role

Pormpuraaw Aboriginal Shire Council is seeking an experienced Community Services Team Leader to join the team in Pormpuraaw, QLD. This full-time role will play a crucial part in leading the Council's community services and development initiatives, with a focus on aged care support services. As the Team Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality services to the local community.

What you'll be doing

Manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Community Services Team

Oversee the implementation and delivery of a range of community-based programs and services, including Aged Care, Justice, Library, Centrelink and community development initiatives

Liaise with key stakeholders, including government agencies, community organisations, and local residents, to identify and address community needs

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures

Lead, mentor, and support a team of community services professionals

Contribute to the development and implementation of the Council's strategic community services plan

Prepare reports and other documentation as required

What we're looking for - Selection Criteria

Substantial experience in a community services or social work role, with a strong understanding of the aged care and community services sectors

Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage and support a team

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to think strategically and proactively

Relevant qualifications or experience in community services, social work, or a related field

Familiarity with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures in the community services and disability support sectors

A commitment to promoting the wellbeing and empowerment of the local community
