The Role:

As a key member of the Racing Operations team, the Senior Racing Coordinator is responsible for supporting the three code leads in the operational execution of thoroughbred, harness and greyhound racing and training activities across the state. The primary purpose of this position is to provide administrative and operational support to the codes by coordinating and delivering on all administration and reporting, liaising with industry on relevant matters, coordinating casual staff for race day operations and liaising with industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide assistance and coordinate administrative function within the codes in alignment with organisational processes and procedures. This support will include but is not limited to administration, reporting, maintaining confidential information and documentation such as filing, ordering, purchasing, scheme nominations and payments, CEO updates and minute taking

Assist with the coordination of any race day operation requirements and training events and attend race meetings, trials and events as agreed with direct manager

Support the Code Leads – Thoroughbred, Harness and Greyhounds in adequate rostering of employees and contractors for every race meet or trial across the State

Collaborate with the Assets & Facilities team to ensure the racing and training venues are performance ready

Communicate relevant information to clubs and associations to allow for effective meeting organisation

Communicate all relevant information, including but not limited to potential risks to WHS, industry or animal welfare to the Racing Operations Manager

Support a renewed industry customer focus that aligns with Tasracing objectives both internally and externally

Manage expectations and communicate appropriately with stakeholders to achieve competing priorities

Support the development of the Annual Race Program and Calendar to maximise turnover and quality events across the state

Support in the preparation for National Code bodies, national forums, industry meetings and related groups or sub committees including the completion of minutes.

Actively support all animal welfare initiatives to promote rehoming outcomes

Assist in the development of new administrative practices within the racing department to ensure efficient clerical support for the broader racing team as a whole

Report, monitor and review racing data

Actively participate in Racing team meetings, and other project groups

Assist with the organisation of events across all three codes when required

About you:

Professional, respectful, and proud attitude towards the racing industry

Proven interest in, and understanding of racing

High level administration skills including report writing and minute taking

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to build rapport with a diverse range of stakeholders

Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team

Highly developed organisational skills with an ability to juggle competing priorities

Ability to manage time effectively and filter industry and participant contact to achieve the broader objectives of the role when required

Demonstrated communication skills including oral and written skills, and contemporary standard of computer literacy

Current driver’s license

Ability to work a range of hours to meet the needs of the racing calendar, and travel across the state for racing events and manage workload outside of a traditional Monday to Friday work week
