About the position (Ongoing full-time)
The Manager, Business Planning and Performance leads strategic planning, evaluation, and performance management across the Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS). This role plays a key part in aligning business priorities with the DPS Strategic Plan, driving organisational performance, and supporting evidence-based decision-making.
You’ll oversee the development and implementation of strategic and business plans, establish performance frameworks, and provide data-driven insights that shape long-term success. Working closely with senior leaders and stakeholders, you’ll foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability that underpins the Parliament’s strategic objectives.

Based in NSW Parliament, the Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is a specialist service department working to support the operation of the Parliament of NSW by providing logistical support and advice to members, the Departments of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly and the people of New South Wales. Our office is found close to public transport in the heart of Macquarie Street CBD, next to the State Library and Sydney’s Botanic Gardens.

About you:
Are you a strategic thinker and a seasoned professional with a passion for driving performance and planning excellence?
This pivotal role provides strategic leadership across DPS, overseeing business performance, planning, and evaluation. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining systems and protocols that align with the DPS Strategic Plan, ensuring our initiatives are data-driven, future-focused, and effectively executed. A strong track record in establishing and monitoring key business performance indicators, identifying trends, and driving continuous improvement initiatives is essential. Equally important is your ability to effectively engage and collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Operationalise Parliament’s business planning and performance framework.
- Drive the annual prioritisation of business plans in line with the strategic roadmap
- Conduct quarterly performance reviews and coordinate reporting to senior stakeholders
- Ensure resource allocation and performance tracking support long-term strategic objectives
- Champion continuous improvement and evidence-based decision-making across the department
