The Role
Yarra Valley Water is seeking a proactive and strategic Commercial Contract Specialist to join our Asset & Field Services leadership team. In this pivotal role, you'll be instrumental in optimising our commercial performance across the entire contract lifecycle, ensuring we deliver value and efficiency while meeting our corporate, customer, social, and sustainability goals. You'll use your expertise to support and mentor a team of Contract and Project Managers, elevating Our procurement and contract management processes.

Your key responsibilities

• Drive efficiency and uplift commercial value across all stages of the contract lifecycle, balancing financial, social, and sustainability goals
• Implement fit-for-purpose commercial and delivery models, establish new performance metrics and KPIs, and lead regular reporting on financial, environmental, and customer satisfaction metrics throughout the contract lifecycle.
• Develop strong relationships with our delivery partners to foster a collaborative approach to performance improvement.
• Assess and improve existing commercial processes and workflows to drive greater efficiency and effectiveness.
• Evaluate and compare contract performance against broader organisational goals to ensure effective use of resources and alignment with community expectations.

What we're looking for

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Science, Commerce, Finance, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven experience in strategic procurement or contract management.
• Advanced understanding of procurement practices, principles, and governance.
• Experience in managing contracts of varying categories, commercial models, value, and complexity, including high-volume maintenance and/or services contracts.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and negotiate outcomes.
• Exceptional commercial acumen and business maturity.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and maintain formulas.
• Experience in supporting or leading teams.
