The Opportunity

St Mary MacKillop School is seeking a skilled and motivated Finance Officer to join our team.

Under the moderate direction of the Principal, the Finance Officer is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the school's business and financial activities, including:

· Managing the school's budget and preparing financial reports to support planning and decision-making.

· Overseeing payroll processing, employee leave entitlements, and applying Enterprise Agreement provisions.

· Essential experience in payroll processing and employee entitlements management is required for this position.

· Administering the school's fee billing, collection, and reconciliation processes.

· Processing accounts receivable, accounts payable, BAS and GST, and general ledger functions.

· Proficiency in accounting software systems is required for managing financial transactions and reporting.

· Coordinating with the CESA Finance Team, School Board Finance Committee, and external stakeholders.

· Supporting compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and relevant policies.

· Preparing end of year financial statements and assisting with audit processes.

· Actively participating in school events, meetings, and contributing to the life of our community.

This is a full-time position, but there may be some flexibility with hours worked.

About you?

You are a detail-oriented finance professional with a background in financial management and payroll operations. You bring:

· A Diploma or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Business or similar, and/or significant work experience in a comparable role. Experience working in a school setting is highly desirable.

· Act in accordance with the CESA Code of Conduct and the Charter for Staff in Catholic Schools in South Australia.

o Hold a current acceptable Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance & screening to work in Catholic Education South Australia.

o Hold current certification in Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect in Education and Care Settings.

o First Aid Qualification as directed by the school.

o As a worker, comply with the SA Work Health & Safety Act 2012 and, while at work, take reasonable care for their own health and safety.

· Take reasonable care that your actions or omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of other persons.

· Comply, in so far as you are reasonably able, with any reasonable instruction given by the employer.

· Co-operate with any reasonable policy or procedure of the employer that is related to health and safety at the workplace that has been notified to workers.
