We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Planning & Engineering Group within the Customer Delivery Division.

  • Base salary of up to $146,381 plus 12% Superannuation (Any offer made will be commensurate with the skills and experience of the successful candidate)

The Opportunity

As the Electrical Engineer you will primarily be responsible for providing the strategy and planning associated with asset compliance, maintenance, reliability, renewal and disposal of HWC electrical assets and working to ensure that Hunter Water's electrical assets are efficiently and safely meeting the needs of the community, our people and the environment.

What you'll do:

  • Asset class planning, including strategy development and business case preparation, maintenance strategy, condition assessment-monitoring, decision making models and asset information requirements to ensure that long term customer, safety, water quality, regulatory and environmental needs are met.
  • Develop electrical engineering capability of others and promote a continuous improvement culture
  • Assist in maintaining business unit compliance with legislated requirements and management systems
  • Lead technical investigations (RCA, FMECA, etc) and coordinate, oversee, and report on corrective actions
  • Deliver rolling condition assessment programs and maintain and optimise maintenance programs for all Hunter Water electrical assets
  • Assist in the delivery of engineering change and configuration management programs, maintaining currency
  • Provide input into the Planning, Design, Construction, Commissioning, Acceptance into Operational Service, Maintenance, and Renewal of Hunter Water or 3rd party assets which may have an impact on Hunter Water's operations
  • Develop and present system familiarity, training and information sessions
  • Contribute to National Water Initiative (NWI) returns, Operating Licence and other Internal/External Audits, or provide other responses as required including benchmarking such as Asset Management Customer Value (AMCV) & Aquamark

What you'll need to be successful:

Essential Criteria:

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience with the operation and maintenance of electrical assets
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering strategy and planning associated with asset compliance, maintenance, renewal and disposal of electrical assets
  • Demonstrated understanding of statutory asset requirements
  • Applied knowledge of current legislation and standards associated with electrical asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of protection systems and principles
  • Ability and willingness to complete training course specific to the role including but not limited to High Voltage, LVR/CPR, Confined Space Entry and Working at Heights.

Desirable Criteria:

  • NSW Electrical licence
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card)
  • Experience working in a brownfield plant or industrial environment
  • Proven ability to write technical papers
  • Demonstrated understanding of the technical aspects, failure modes, repair methods and failure prevention techniques for water industry equipment - electrical
  • Experience using works management systems (i.e. Ellipse)
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Electrical safety regulations
  • Knowledge of SKM power tools for Windows or similar programs (Power CAD)
  • Experience conducting economic and/or arc flash analysis
  • Experience with the operation and maintenance of HV electrical assets
  • Experience in water and wastewater infrastructure
