About the Role
We are assisting a local family to engage an experienced independent support worker to support their 22-year-old daughter living with ASD Level 3 (verbal) and moderate to severe intellectual impairment.
This is a contracted role directly with the participant’s family under an NDIS plan — you will not be employed by our organisation. As such, you will need to operate as a self-employed contractor and meet the relevant requirements listed below.
Key Responsibilities
Provide person-centred support tailored to the participant’s individual needs, preferences, and goals
Support with daily living activities, personal care, routines, and household tasks
Facilitate community access and participation in meaningful activities and social engagements
Confidently support the participant when behaviours of concern occur, following established strategies and plans
Collaborate as part of a wider support team, maintaining open and respectful communication with the participant, family, and other stakeholders
Follow and implement the participant’s Positive Behaviour Support Plan (PBSP) and care plan at all times
Be proactive in identifying needs, planning supports, and adapting to changing circumstances
Accurately document and communicate relevant observations, progress, and incidents
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must:
Hold a valid ABN and operate as an independent contractor
Have a current Yellow Card (NDIS Worker Screening Check) and Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
Hold relevant insurances, including public liability and professional indemnity
Have your own reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s licence
Demonstrate experience working with behaviours of concern and supporting people with complex needs
Be flexible and available for shifts including overnights and weekends
Be committed to person-centred practice and collaborative teamwork
Have strong communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach
About the Participant
You will be supporting a 22-year-old female participant who is verbal and lives with ASD Level 3 and moderate to severe intellectual impairment. The ideal support worker will be patient, understanding, and passionate about making a difference, while fostering a positive, empowering, and collaborative support environment.
Important Information
This is not an employment role with our organisation. We are assisting the family with their search, but you will enter into a direct service agreement with the participant’s family under the NDIS. All invoicing, insurance, and business responsibilities remain your own.
When Applying
Include a brief introduction outlining your relevant experience, qualifications, and availability. Suitable applicants will be contacted directly by the support coordinator who will facilitate contact with the family.
