Wesley Mission Queensland is the Lead Agency for three headspace centres in Queensland – Capalaba, Hervey Bay and Maryborough.

Your Role as Mental Health Clinician
You’ll deliver person-centred care by providing contemporary youth-focused, youth-friendly mental health services. You’ll empower individuals to live more independently, safely, and meaningfully by:
Working in a Multidisciplinary Team (MDT)
Providing care co-ordination and delivering counselling intervention to young
people experiencing mild to moderately complex social and emotional wellbeing challenges
Conducting assessments of customer mental health needs and formulating of relevant therapeutic plans
Delivering individual counselling and group programs
Delivering high-quality evidence-based intervention and advice ensuring family-inclusive practice which ensures the voice, choice and active involvement of young people, and their family, friends and support networks are heard and supported
Ensuring that positive and professional relationships and rapport are developed and maintained with young people and their support networks
Relating to young people in a manner which is relevant and appropriate to their developmental and cognitive level of functioning, provide services in a youth-friendly manner, and promote and adhere to youth-friendly practice principles
This is a fixed-term position until 30/10/2027
What We’re Looking For
Tertiary qualification in relevant Allied Health field such as Psychology, Mental Health Occupational Therapy, Social Work, or Counselling
Current registration with relevant professional body (AHPRA, Australian Association of Social Workers, Australian Counselling Association or Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia)
Ability and experience in the provision of counselling and case management of young people presenting with a varied physical and mental health issues
Ability to prioritise and manage individual caseload whilst meeting service and young people’s needs
A Valuable Addition, Yet Not a Must-Have!
Mental Health Accreditation for Social Workers and Occupational Therapists or evidence of actively working towards same
Essential Requirements
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination status (or as required by legislation and WMQ policy)
Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ Limited policy.
Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel for work
