About the Role

As the Senior Development Engineer, you will:

Evaluate development applications to ensure compliance with Council standards, engineering principles, and regulations related to stormwater, flood risk, and public infrastructure.

Provide specialist advice on drainage design, stormwater management, parking, and flood risk mitigation throughout the full development cycle.

Use stormwater modelling and data analysis to assess drainage systems and develop effective solutions

Act as a frontline representative, fostering positive stakeholder relationships and delivering collaborative, customer-focused outcomes.

Monitor construction activities, issue permits, and ensure development conditions are met to safeguard Council assets.

Prepare documentation and appear as an expert witness in the Land and Environment Court on matters related to stormwater, flooding, and parking.

What You’ll Bring:

A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience that aligns with the eligibility requirements for Engineers Australia.

Proficient in hydraulic, hydrologic, and drainage system modelling and design software.

Strong understanding of planning and environmental laws, regulations, and development assessment practices.

Good understanding of construction methods and how they affect public infrastructure.

Sound knowledge of development engineering principles.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable:

Knowledge or experience in managing complex, large-scale or high-rise developments within a CBD context.

Experience with Technology One or other cloud-based enterprise systems.
