About The Role
Are you passionate about supporting people of all faiths with empathy and respect? Join our team at Melbourne Immigration Detention Centre (MIDC) in Broadmeadows as a Religious Liaison Officer (part-time, 4 days per week).
In this rewarding role, you’ll coordinate religious services, foster respectful interfaith relationships, and support detainees’ right to practice and celebrate their faith while in detention.
Key responsibilities include:
Develop and coordinate religious programs and services for detainees.
Organise celebrations of culturally significant events and religious holidays.
Support detainees’ emotional and spiritual wellbeing through inclusive programming.
Maintain accurate records of participation and ensure reporting is up to date.
Collaborate with internal teams to support holistic detainee care and development.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, company policies, and safety protocols.

Key Requirements:
A strong understanding of diverse religious and spiritual practices
Experience in pastoral care, chaplaincy or a similar role
A respectful and inclusive approach to all cultures and faiths
Ability to manage programs and meet reporting requirements
Relevant qualifications in theology, social work, pastoral care, or related fields (desirable)
First Aid / CPR (or willing to obtain)
Valid Working With Children Check (or willing to obtain)
Proven COVID vaccination
