As the Manager Collection Development, you will lead the development of our contemporary and heritage collections to reflect the culture and history of the Territory and manage the Collection Development team to source and oversee donations and acquisitions across a broad range of formats. You’ll build and maintain networks with a wide range of stakeholders provide expert advice and develop strategies to respond effectively to trends.
About Library & Archives NT
Library & Archives NT (LANT) is the Northern Territory’s ‘State’ Library and Archives service. We collect and preserve the documentary heritage of the Northern Territory, including original government and community archive collections. LANT holds an extensive oral history collection, published collections in print and digital form, including books, newspapers, periodicals, and thousands of image collections. We enable access to these collections, to share the Northern Territory’s rich and unique history, through research access, events, exhibitions, education programs and online.
About You
You are a strategic and culturally aware professional with a strong understanding of contemporary trends in cultural collections, ready to lead. To be successful you’ll have:
A tertiary qualification relating to the Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums sector, with eligibility for relevant professional membership.
High-level knowledge of contemporary practices in cultural collection development including libraries and archives, with an understanding of the role these collections play
Extensive experience in managing the identification, and acquisition of collection materials, including significance assessment, rights and access agreements, and complex documentation.
Proven knowledge of rights management, including Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property and its relevance to collection development.
Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a range of diverse stakeholders
