Posted 7 days ago
We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Adelaide’s CBD in helping us continue to grow. It’s more than just a role within finance - it’s a chance to apply your expertise in a values-driven organisation and have a real impact in helping the community we support.
About the role
As a key member of our Financial Services team, you’ll prepare and analyse financial reports, identify revenue and cost saving opportunities to enhance our capabilities, manage month end processes including reports and reconciliations, lead the development and coordination of business wide budget and forecasts, continue to audits and compliance activities. You’ll play a part in our overall continuous improvement activities, working alongside internal and external stakeholders to continue improving our offerings and capabilities.
What we’re looking for
We’re seeking someone who brings both technical expertise focused on teamwork and collaboration that’s essential to our Uniting Communities’ culture. This includes:
- Degree-qualified or near completion in Accounting (CPA/CA desirable)
- 2–5 years’ experience in accounting/finance roles
- Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills
- Proven experience with finance and reporting systems (e.g. TechOne)
- Experience of the Microsoft Office suite including Word and PowerPoint with strong capabilities in Excel
- A proactive, “can-do” attitude with ability to manage competing priorities
- A strong focus on teamwork and collaboration to work alongside the wider UC team.
Knowledge in the support services and/or not-for-profit sectors is also an advantage but not essential.
Why Work For Us?
As a Uniting Communities team member, this key finance role is much more than just being about numbers – it’s being part of a leading South Australian community services provider who’s focussed on delivering services and support to people in need.
In addition to your salary arrangements, by being part of our Uniting Communities you can:
- Salary package up to $15,900 per year pre-tax for certain living expenses and up to $2,650 extra for meals and entertainment (visit our salary packaging provider for details - Access Pay)
- Benefit from paid maternity leave that exceed statutory obligations
- Enjoy other staff-based benefits including our early intervention physio program, health insurance benefits and other staff discounts
- Work with us in our award-winning U City building in the heart of Adelaide’s CBD.

If you’re a detail-oriented finance professional looking to leverage your skills in creating genuine social impact and change, we’d love to hear from you. Please attach a cover letter addressing the role and your passion for working with us together with a current resume.
We will be shortlisting and interviewing applicants as they are submitted. Apply early.
As an organisation, we are committed to protecting children, young people and vulnerable adults. All staff are required to work within our code of conduct and undergo relevant pre-employment checks.
UC acknowledges that community members—particularly Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, culturally diverse individuals, gender-diverse people, people with disabilities, older people, and those who have experienced social factors, including a history of living in out-of-home care—have valuable experiences to offer. Please contact us if you have questions about your suitability for a role, because we want you here.
