We are Tas-Fab Laser Services, we are a component manufacturing company in Launceston providing generally sheet steel metal components to all industries across Tasmania and beyond. We provide laser cutting, waterjet cutting, surface finishing, press break folding, rolling, welding & fabrication services.

Qualifications & experience

Previous experience with press breaks and forklifts would be beneficial but not essential.

Previous experience within the metal manufacturing industry and manual work.

General experience with machine controllers, computers and their operating systems, as well as file management.

General safety awareness for yourself and those around you.

This role tends to suit applicants between the ages of 22 to 35 but not essential and we would still encourage you to apply.

Previous experience with rolling, mig welding, tig welding, drilling, tapping, bandsaw cutting would be helpful but not essential.

Tasks & responsibilities

Working within our press break / finishing department.

Folding components, operating press break machines generally from 1.00mm to 12.00mm thick.

Machines include Trumpf V130, Trumpf 7036, Safan 80), up to 130 Tonne.

Surface finishing machines, Q-Fin 200XL, Sand blasting cabinet, hand tools, grinders.

Forklifts & overhead crane use.

Interpret drawings & job operation work sheets

Setting up machine tooling to perform finishing & folding operations.

Loading & unloading press machine physically or using overhead cranes and forklift.

Deburring & edge rounding operations to laser & waterjet components.

Provide sand blasting operations.

Responsible for ensuring high quality and accuracy.

Provide general ongoing maintenance and cleaning to the machinery in your area.
