Join the Northern Territory Government and contribute to the delivery of the Urgent Repairs and Cyclical Maintenance program in the Darwin Region.
The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure works with the community, business and government partners to regulate, construct, maintain and invest in integrated sustainable infrastructure, developments and services across the Territory.
As Project Manager – Electrical within the Maintenance Branch, you’ll be responsible for delivering a diverse portfolio of electrical trade-based projects—including Capital Works, Minor Works, and maintenance—for Northern Territory Government agencies in the Darwin region. You’ll provide expert technical advice and project management support, ensuring effective delivery and oversight of contracts for repairs and maintenance. This role offers the opportunity to work across a wide range of infrastructure initiatives that directly benefit Territory communities.
Your day-to-day will involve managing all phases of project delivery, attending sites and meetings, and building strong stakeholder relationships. You’ll assess resource and skill requirements, recommend and administer construction contracts, and provide regular reporting on project status. With a mix of fieldwork and office-based responsibilities, you’ll ensure projects meet compliance standards under the Building Act 1993, Construction Code, and relevant Australian Standards—making a tangible impact on infrastructure across the Territory.
About you
Electrical trade qualification or equivalent experience directly relevant to the position
Hold a current “A” grade Electrical Mechanics licence issued by the NT Electrical Workers and Contractors Licensing Board (or ability to obtain)
Substantial knowledge and experience in building project and contract management
Strong technical knowledge in the Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards for the electrical trade
Strong relationship-building and stakeholder engagement skills in diverse, cross-cultural environments
A current NT driver’s licence (or ability to obtain)
Desirable – High-level experience in fire and/or communications and networking systems
