About the Opportunity
Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation (BHAC) is excited to be part of the new Remote Area Employment Services (RAES) - a transformative initiative by the Australian Government designed to create more tailored, community-driven employment pathways for remote communities. As we prepare for the transition to RAES, we are seeking Expressions of Interest from individuals passionate about making a real difference in remote Australia.
As the single point of contact for job seekers, employers, and host organisations across the region, the opportunity is about connecting people with meaningful work, building skills, and supporting projects that strengthen community life.
We’re now hiring for key roles that will work together to lead and support this important program. Whether you’re managing projects, building relationships with employers, or guiding people through their employment journey, your work will have a lasting impact.
About You
We’re looking for two passionate people to join our team — one as a Project Manager and the other as a Project Coordinator. Both roles are about turning community ideas into successful outcomes, with projects that are designed and led by the community itself.
If you’re applying as a Project Manager, you’ll bring:
Experience leading projects end-to-end, including planning, budgeting, reporting, and risk management
A background in community development, cultural projects, events, or other community-focused initiatives
Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work with Elders, Traditional Owners, and government partners
The confidence to manage multiple priorities while ensuring quality outcomes
If you’re applying as a Project Coordinator, you’ll bring:
Experience supporting or coordinating projects, events, or programs in areas such as employment services, health, education, cultural programs, tourism, conservation, or trades
Strong organisational skills with the ability to keep activities on track and support reporting requirements
A willingness to learn, grow, and take on more responsibility over time
Great interpersonal skills that help you connect with people and build trust
You will demonstrate:
Respect for Aboriginal culture and protocols
Commitment to cultural safety and trauma-informed practice
Willingness to learn from Traditional Owners and Elders
Appreciation of the connection between culture, country, and well-being
This is a role for someone who enjoys bringing people together, solving problems creatively, and making sure projects deliver real benefits for the community.
About the Benefits
When you join BHAC, you will receive a host of great benefits, including:
Salary and Financial Benefits
Salary range of up to $135,000 per annum, depending on experience
12% superannuation
Generous salary packaging options are available due to BHAC’s not-for-profit (NFP) status, allowing for tax-free benefits on housing, meals and entertainment

Rent-free, furnished accommodation in Maningrida
Company vehicle for work purposes

A unique opportunity to work in a culturally rich and historically significant region, with the ability to engage in traditional ceremonies and community events
A relaxed lifestyle with no long commutes, no traffic congestion, and a supportive, close-knit community
Access to world-class fishing, camping, and outdoor exploration in the Arnhem Land region, with road access to Kakadu National Park during the dry season
