Guest Experience / Duty Manager (Full-time)

The Commodore, located in the heart of Mount Gambier on the beautiful Limestone Coast, is part of a proud family-run hospitality group dedicated to creating exceptional guest experiences. We’re now looking for a Guest Experience / Duty Manager to join our team. This is a full-time, hands-on leadership role for someone who takes pride in delivering memorable stays and is equipped with the skills to manage a busy front desk.

About the Role

As Guest Experience / Duty Manager, you’ll play a key role in shaping every stage of the guest journey — from booking to check-in, throughout their stay, and beyond. You’ll oversee front-of-house operations, support our team of casual staff, and ensure that every guest interaction reflects our commitment to quality and genuine hospitality.

When the General Manager is off-site, you’ll take charge of day-to-day operations at The Commodore, maintaining smooth service across accommodation, food and beverage, and guest relations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

· Lead and support front desk and guest services staff, fostering a warm, professional, and guest-focused culture.

· Oversee and enhance the guest experience across The Commodore, Delgattie Estate, and Colhurst House — ensuring consistency, care, and attention to detail.

· Respond promptly and professionally to guest feedback, enquiries, and service recovery situations.

· Coordinate and supervise daily hotel operations, including front-of-house, bar, and accommodation services.

· Provide hands-on leadership during shifts, particularly evenings and weekends.

· Assist with rostering, cash handling, reporting, and operational administration.

· Contribute to business improvement initiatives, guest engagement programs, and staff training.

You’ll bring:

Previous experience in a supervisory or management role within hospitality.

Strong understanding of front office and/or food and beverage operations.

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a guest-first mindset.

A hands-on, team-oriented approach and confidence leading casual staff.

Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
