About the role

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Part-time Family Support Worker/Youth Worker to join our team at Gorenang Moortabiin Aboriginal Corporation in Albany, WA. In this rewarding role, you will be responsible for providing essential support services to families and young people in our local community.

What you'll be doing

Delivering tailored family support and counselling services to address complex needs

Organising and facilitating youth programs and activities to promote personal development and community engagement

Liaising with other community organisations and agencies to coordinate holistic support

Assisting with case management and maintaining accurate client records

Advocating for the rights and interests of families and young people

Providing a safe, non-judgemental and culturally-sensitive environment

What we're looking for

Relevant tertiary qualification in a community services or youth work field

A relevant tertiary degree or diploma in community services or a similar field, with equivalent demonstrated skills and experience considered

Experience working with families, young people or in a similar community support role

A minimum of 2+ years demonstrated experience working successfully in cross-cultural contexts with Aboriginal youth and families to achieve mutually agreed outcomes

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport

Demonstrated understanding of the challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities

Excellent organisation and time management skills

Empathy, patience and a genuine commitment to making a positive difference

Australian permanent residency or citizenship status with eligibility to work in Australia
