About the Role:

Our client is looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our high-performing maintenance team. In this hands-on role, you'll be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimising heavy industrial equipment critical to our steel production and distribution processes.

You'll work with hydraulic, pneumatic, and large-scale mechanical systems across our facilities, ensuring safety, reliability, and peak operational performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform fault-finding, diagnostics, and repairs on heavy industrial equipment

Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance to minimise downtime

Install, test, and commission new machinery in both workshop and site environments

Conduct overhauls and refurbishments of steel processing equipment

Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications for fabrication and assembly

Maintain compliance with safety protocols and company standards

Support continuous improvement initiatives across the maintenance function

What We're Looking For:

Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner, or equivalent

Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical fitting within heavy industry, steel, FMCG, or industrial engineering

Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, valves, and large mechanical systems

Ability to diagnose and resolve faults quickly and effectively

Experience reading technical drawings and working both independently and in a team

Strong commitment to safety, quality, and reliability

Valid driver's licence and flexibility to travel to project sites as required

Additional licences such as Forklift, Working at Heights, or Crane are highly regarded

Leadership capability and experience managing projects or small teams is a plus
