Public Sector People are currently inviting applications from experienced Asset Permits Officers who are seeking an immediate contract role with a regional council located just over an hour from the CBD.
As an Asset Permits Officer, you will be responsible for the coordination and surveillance of works undertaken on Council land to ensure that Council assets are protected, and reinstatement works meet Council quality and technical standards.
This will be a 3 month temporary contract assignment with immediate start, the succesful candidate will have proven experience working in the same or similar role for an Australian council. Please also note, this is an onsite position.
Duties will include but not limited to:
- Prepare Council’s response, including the maintenance of auditable records, to all asset related permit applications including but not limited to legal point of discharge, build over easement, asset protection, road openings, vehicle crossings, occupy part of road reserve and works within the road reserve including service authority requests
- Proactively pursue building approvals in the municipality and ensure asset protection permits are obtained
- Ensure fees associated with permits are in place
- Ensure that damage caused to Council assets is rectified in a timely manner, in accordance with standards and costs recovered as far as practicable.
- Investigate and take appropriate action relating to damage to council assets
- Respond to customer enquiries associated with the role with respect to Council’s assets including review of customer concerns, identification of technical issues, development of solution and drafting of responses to customers.
- Assist in the development and review of standard operating procedures across the broad range of asset management responsibilities.
Requirements include:
- Must have: experience in an Australian Council within the field of Asset Protection, civil asset maintenance or Permits
- Must have: experience in permits - Asset Protection, Legal Point of Discharge, Building Over Easement, Vehicle crossing and Municipal Works Within Road Reserves.
- Qualification in an engineering related field or a Certificate IV / Associate Diploma with relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated working knowledge and experience in undertaking asset inspections including reporting and record keeping
- Understanding of Road Management Act 2004 and code of practice
- A current Victorian Driver’s Licence
- High level customer services focus with excellent communication skills (oral and written) and an ability to work at the team member level
