About the role

As Hazardous Areas Electrical Project Manager, you’ll run end-to-end EEHA projects—think upgrades, brownfields mods, and compliance programs—while building local client relationships. This is a step-up pathway built for experienced supervisors or senior electricians who’ve led crews in hazardous areas and want formal project ownership (program, budget, client, risk) with structured support.

Why this is a step up

Formal move from supervisor/lead electrician into Project Manager remit

Mentoring from senior PMs and engineering support (design, drafting, controls)

Exposure to scoping, estimating, procurement, and commercials—not just delivery

Key duties & responsibilities

Project delivery: Plan and deliver D&C and compliance projects from bid to handover (scope, schedule, cost, quality).

EEHA focus: Coordinate Ex inspections, remediation scopes, and close-outs; keep the Hazardous Area Verification Dossier current.

Technical leadership: Guide crews on Ex installations (cabling, glands/terminations, IS loops, enclosures, earthing/bonding) and FAT/SAT.

Project controls: Build programs, track budgets, manage variations, and report profitability.

Client & stakeholders: Be the day-to-day face of GPS for site reps, auditors, inspectors, and OEMs.

Safety & compliance: Champion SWMS, risk assessments, and adherence to AS/NZS 60079 series and site standards.

Collaboration: Work closely with our Melbourne team for engineering, procurement, and resource planning.

Business development: Spot follow-on work and small-works programs; help shape bids and proposals.

What you’ll bring

Must-haves

VIC Electrical Licence and EEHA qualification.

Solid track record as Electrical Supervisor/Leading Hand in industrial/process plants.

Working knowledge of AS/NZS 60079 and maintaining EEHA dossiers; comfortable with inspection grades and defect close-out.

Confident communicator who can brief clients, lead subcontractors, and keep a program moving.

Current AU working rights and driver’s licence; willing to travel within VIC.

Nice-to-haves

Experience across FMCG, pharma, bulk storage/handling, or other hazardous-area facilities.

Exposure to estimating or small-project commercials; PM qualifications are a plus.

What’s on offer

Competitive package + vehicle (band aligned to experience), overtime/allowances as applicable.

Clear pathway to Senior PM / Regional Lead as we scale.

Backing of a values-driven team with mature safety systems and engineering support.

Diverse, technically rich projects with real client impact in VIC.
