About the Role

This is a temporary position from 1 October 2025 to 17 February 2026.

Are you an early career professional passionate about safety and wellbeing? Maybe you want to return to a WHS Role? This role will provide you with exposure to a broad range of WHS functions within a small specialist team, perfect for building experience and making a meaningful difference.

Key Responsibilities

As a valued member of our specialist team, you’ll play a critical role in embedding a culture of safety and wellbeing across Communities at Work. Your work will span management guidance, operational support, and continuous improvement in WHS practices.

Advisory & Risk Management

Deliver specialist guidance, training, and support to managers and workers on identifying, assessing, and managing WHS risks—including psychosocial hazards—across diverse workplace settings.

Partner with managers to conduct risk assessments and develop targeted risk management plans aligned with WHS objectives.

Ensure compliance with WHS policies, procedures, and systems, supporting their correct implementation across business units.

Enterprise Risk & Governance

Assist in the administration and reporting of enterprise risks to the Executive team.

Coordinate the Emergency Control and WHS Committee schedule, providing secretariat support to ensure effective governance.

WHS Compliance & Assurance

Support the WHS assurance program by facilitating audits, inspections, and reviews to evaluate system effectiveness and compliance.

Coach managers on improvement opportunities and contribute to the development and delivery of action plans and programs.

Incident Investigation

Lead or support investigations into workplace incidents and safety issues, ensuring thorough analysis and assurance of WHS risk controls.

Management System Implementation

Review and draft WHS policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure alignment with legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and standards.

Provide responsive support to managers on incident reporting, issue resolution, and WHS process queries.

Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, including training, inspections, and incident documentation.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

A Certificate IV or diploma in Work, Health and Safety or a related field.

Demonstrated experience and skills in implementing, and advising on safety, WHS and/or wellbeing strategies, policies, procedures, and programs.

Demonstrated skills in establishing and maintaining effective relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the WHS legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and standards, particularly in relation to psychosocial hazards and risks.

Effective written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate, guide, engage, support, and influence at all levels.

Skilled level of initiative, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality, with a commitment to ethical and respectful behaviour.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and other relevant software and systems.

Maintain unrestricted and current “Working With Vulnerable People” registration.

Current drivers’ licence.

Desirable

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding in managing incident reporting, investigation, and resolution, injury management and return to work, and safety and wellbeing data analysis and reporting.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding in conducting and facilitating audits, inspections.
