Responsibilities
As a Grant Advisor (casual), you will proactively help academic researchers write compelling, fundable grant applications via in-document editing and strategic grant advice with a focus on:
ensuring a compelling response that addresses all guideline instructions, assessment criteria and category descriptors
providing a quality, innovative, significant and feasible research proposition
meticulous in document editing including proofreading for spelling, grammar, punctuation and clear and concise writing.
This is a casual (seasonal) employment opportunity. Workload will range from 0-38 hours per week, depending on weekly demand and seasonal variation. Your current arrangements must be flexible enough to accommodate:
between 22.8 hours and 38 hours per week in periods of intense grant activity (variable)
weeks or months where you will not be required to work at all
availability to work between the hours of 9am and 5pm, often at short notice (some flexibility in work hours possible by mutual agreement).
Immediate start is available. Training in GrantEd processes and systems will be provided.
Skills and experience
Essential skills and experience
Knowledge of Australian Research Council (ARC) grant schemes including all in the Discovery Scheme and all in the Linkage Scheme
At least 1 year of past experience providing pre-submission grant editing and stategic advice to ARC grant applicants
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
A swift and meticulous approach to writing including the ability to craft funding proposals in a clear and compelling manner
Excellent grasp of Australian and international spelling, punctuation and grammar rules
Self-motivated and highly organised
A high level of computer literacy, including advanced knowledge of Word and Excel
Ability to work well under pressure
Ability to seek and synthesise information and communicate in a compelling and succinct form
Ability to pay attention to detail and maintain accurate records
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Desirable skills and experience
In-depth knowledge of National Health and Research Medical Centre (NHMRC) and/or MRFF grant schemes and past experience providing pre-submission grant support to NHMRC and/or MRFF grant applicants
In-depth knowledge of typical RFT, RFQ, RFP and Deed requirements and experience providing pre-submission support to tender bids.
Qualifications
You will ideally have an undergraduate degree plus substantial relevant higher education experience, preferably including experience in research administration, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Additional information and application instructions
We are seeking employees based anywhere in Australia. We expect you to have the IT capacity and suitable home office set up to work remotely from your home or other working space where document security and confidentiality can be assured.
Salary package
$65 -$80/hr depending on skills and experience + statutory superannuation.
Reporting
You will report directly to GrantEd's Client Relationships and Workflow Lead, Linda Andonopoulos.
