We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Indigenous Support Officer to support the wellbeing, engagement and academic success of our Indigenous students. This role is central to fostering strong cultural identity and social development within boarding and day school environments. Working closely with key staff, families and external agencies, the successful candidate will provide targeted pastoral care, coordinate culturally relevant programs, support academic progress, and contribute meaningfully to the broader School community. Strong knowledge of Indigenous culture, the Queensland education system and relevant funding programs such as AIEF is essential.
The position is offered on a permanent part time basis, during term time.
Key responsibilities of the role:
Supporting student wellbeing, resilience, and social connection;
Coordinating cultural and community engagement activities;
Advocating for academic support and external referrals;
Assisting with pastoral care in the boarding house; and
Maintaining respectful, ongoing relationships with Indigenous families.
The ideal candidate will have:
Demonstrated exemplary mentoring or supervisory experience;
A strong understanding of Indigenous culture and issues affecting Indigenous youth;
A passion for boys’ education, particularly in boarding environments;
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills; and
A collaborative approach and commitment to school community engagement is essential.
