Purpose of Role

As a casual Disability Support Worker, you will be providing person-centered active support to people living with disabilities in Inner West. You will be flexible to work varied shifts either with Individual Support or provide support to participants in group activities such as Day Programs, Life Skills and Social Recreational groups.

Responsibilities

Essential

Provide individualised and person centered support to participants

Support participants to exercise choice and control

Provide high-quality support in line with the objectives of the NDIS either in the participant’s home, Participate Australia site or in the community.

Support participants with activities stated in shift instructions; encourage independence where appropriate.

Ability to work a variety of shifts including, morning, day, evening and weekends and work flexibly

Ability to promote authentic social inclusion of people with disability

Team player and can also work unsupervised

Committed to the rights of people with disabilities

Access to the internet and a phone for rosters and client reporting

Certificate III or IV Individual Support/Disability

Hold a current Drivers licence (P1 or above) and reliable access to a vehicle

Desirable

Demonstrated experience supporting people with an intellectual disability in areas such as personal care, health and well-being, active community participation and skill development.

Have a current First Aid Certificate and CPR or can one obtain them within three (3) months of commencement
