Payroll Accountant

Role summary

This role sits within the Payroll team, supporting the payroll function from a finance perspective. You’ll be responsible for key payroll accounting activities including reconciliations, intercompany journal entries, and statutory reporting. Ideal for someone detail-oriented with strong payroll compliance knowledge and systems experience.

About the role

• Manage payroll-related general ledger entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare and process intercompany journals and accruals
• Oversee superannuation and payroll tax payments in line with ANZ legislation
• Assist with period-end closing, reporting, and payroll-related audits
• Support the payroll operations team with financial queries and compliance issues
• Help enhance payroll-related financial processes and controls

Skills & experience

• Proven experience in payroll accounting, including GLs, reconciliations, and tax
• Strong knowledge of superannuation, PAYG, and leave entitlements in Australia
• Proficiency with payroll systems (SAP, ADP, Chris21) and Excel
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with high-volume data
• Experience in FMCG, shared services, or large corporate environments is ideal
• Collaborative mindset with strong analytical and communication skills
